Satellite Transmition & Control Center

SYNED currently, owns and operates a comprehensive DTH technical platform comprised of:

• 3 fully redundant MPEG-2/DVB statistical multiplexes manufactured by NDS (now TANDBERG). These MUXes are used with HotBird transponders 55, 73 and 121, mainly for services provided to Multichoice Hellas for its NOVA DTH platform.
• Irdeto Access encryption technology.
• A fully equipped, monitoring and control satellite transmission center, manned 24hours, 7 days a week.
• A fully redundant UPS system providing uninterrupted power supply to all the critical facilities and equipment.

Earth Stations

SYNED owns and operates a fully licensed and approved teleport located in Kantza Attkis, near Athens. These facilities include two 4.8 meter and one 7 meter, 18GHz earth stations supplied by Vertex for transmission to Eutelsat's Hot Bird 2,3 and 4 satellites and a fully redundant 7.2 meter 14GHz earth station supplied by Scientific Atlanta. These stations are fully equipped with standby equipment and have the following characteristics:

• GRC-ATH-5 (7,0 m, Transmission Frequency 14-14,5 GHz)
• GRC-ATH-13 (4,8 m, Transmission Frequency 17,3-18,4 GHz)
• GRC-ATH-14 (4,8 m, Transmission Frequency 17,3-18,4 GHz)
• GRC-ATH-15 (7,2 m, Transmission Frequency 17,3-18,1 GHz)

Backhaul Facilities

SYNED owns and operates an extensive array of satellite reception systems (TVRO) for reception from popular satellites with a range of feeds from the Atlantic to the Indian oceans. In addition, the SYNED facility is connected via an array of Fiber Optic lines to the OTE distribution network.
